  1. I’m enjoying all of your work, Ali, but this poem seems especially appropriate given what’s been happening this week. The lack of understanding and acceptance of others (especially those “not like us”) and the fear and sadness that many of us are feeling across our nation is distressing and must be addressed so that we might have “civil discourse” once again.

    1. Yes, I agree that we need to seek to understand each other and respect others who are not like us. This is what I was present to when writing it. I hope it inspires. Thank you for sharing your reflection. Please forward the poem to others who may find comfort in it.
