What you will not forgive in others
a mirror for what you cannot forgive
in yourself.
Hold the mirror before your face
cracked, distorted by times
of perceived failure, harsh voices.
Look
and look some more,
until you see the darkness of yourself.
Then step through,
step through the reflection to the other,
the other side where
you are him
you are her
you are they
you are no different.
In the mirror two eyes plead
for grace.

This poem is inspired by the amazingly loving Debbie. Her blog Forgiving Connects offers opportunities to reflect on forgiveness and learn from the experiences of others. Thank you Debbie. Forgiving Fridays on Forgiving Connects

A wonderful reflection on forgiveness…something that can be so hard to do at times especially when I feel angry and/or hurt.

Oh Ali. I am so touched. I don’t even know what to say. This is so true, so beautiful, and so full of wisdom. You reminded me of a Hafiz quote “God said, “I am made whole by your life. Each soul, each soul completes me.” ~Hafiz.
Thank you for your poem for Forgiving Fridays!! The only thing is to include this link in your post (the one that you included isn’t working for some reason): https://forgivingconnects.com/2017/04/14/todays-forgiving-fridays-compassion-and-my-mom/
This way, I can share the poem in my write up next week <3.
Love and Light to you, Ali. I am so glad that I found your blog. You inspire me greatly. ~Debbie
