Begin again

now, before you change your mind

and doubt blankets you with too comfortable

while familiar climbs onto your lap, warmly weighty

and resignation joins in to pull courage from the room

before you are left alone on the cold couch

deserted by dreams of sitting under

a green tree of sunlight.

  2. A touching reflection Ali. When familiar climbs onto our laps it is so welcome, but we can end up on the coach cold and alone ….. I love this analogy ❣️
May we be open to embrace the whole life!

    1. Thank you for your reflection Val. I appreciate hearing from you.
I am choosing OPEN as my word for the year. Open to learning, Open to listening, Open to not holding back. I could go on for pages.
I appreciate the inspiration I get from you.
      Be well.

  3. I agree with Ivor20 on this poem. Felt that it spoke of ups and downs, sometimes we might be comfortable with something but it won’t be there all the time. Sometimes being in a place where we think is the greatest might not be so great after all. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead, Ali 🙂

    1. Mabel, thanks for your thoughtful reflection. Life is all about beginning again. I am redesigning the way I look at challenges to embrace the full experience of learning instead of just the results. I wonder where each of us will be at the end of 2019. What are you dreaming about for this year?
      Be well my friend,
      Ali

      1. Learning over results, learning for the long haul. Interesting thing you propose there – where each of us will be at the end of 2019. I’m thinking more of the same but who knows. 2018 was in some ways a surprise, and I guess isn’t that life in general. Often I dream of, or more so, remind myself to be just myself and let others be themselves too, and may we share ourselves with each other. Hope what you dream comes true, Ali. Take care my friend ❤
