Maybe you’re not late.
Will you trust Mother Earth
with Autumn’s end
even when you don’t feel ready?
Maybe you are right on time
keeping the cycle.
A tree with your own falling leaves.
Maybe your season is happening
just as it should be.

This is a beautiful piece of poetry, Ali for a lovely season and the picture too was so apt with your poem. Lovely.

I love the perspective of your poem, Ali, the way you address the deciduous tree, and that you don’t specify what species – a beautiful metaphor for the human condition. I especially love the lines:
‘Maybe your season is happening
just as it should be.’

Kim, thank you so much for your feedback. It’s always interesting to hear what others receive from my words. Nature has a lot to teach us if we are paying attention. Thank you for the inspirational prompt to write from

Ahhh, accept the “deficiencies” of an aging human body … “just as it should be” …
This is beautiful, Ali. Thank you.

Or maybe they aren’t deficiencies but a different season of the same body? Can we learn to love all seasons of ourselves?
I am glad you liked this one.
