Temporary – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

img_1341

Your phrases landed
on the floor between us.
I didn’t know how to catch them.

Your breathless words carried
a story of near miss.
One collection of minutes
that almost
restructured my life.

Like flower petals
blown away by the wind
altering forever

their attachment
to the stem.

Never again to unite in bloom’s beauty.

A reminder of
the impermanence of us.

    1. It is easy for me to forget that everything can change with just one turn of events. I hope all is well with you. Between the presidential election and the coronavirus people here are fairly filled with anxiousness. Take care my friend.

  1. The image of phrases landing on the floor without you being able to catch them or the speaker not being able to hand them to you in a way they can be held by the receiver is very powerful. A very poignant poem Ali, I recognise it from when you shared it a few years ago 💜

    1. Yes, I made some changes in the format and added some words. I think I like it even better now. I am taking a poetry class and it is giving me knew ideas for revisions. Thank you for your visit and your kind words. Have a beautiful day.
