Someday – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

When I grow up
I want to be a river

a flow of ease
clear and welcoming

reflecting forest green.

I want to feel the slide
and shine over pebbles

smooth and freely
wandering

down the mountainside

no obstacles

only friends.

Day 12 of Na/GloPoWriMo.
I went rouge with my urge for freedom and didn't follow the prompt.

  1. Go rouge Ali! Loved it especially

I want to feel the slide
    and shine over pebbles

    smooth and freely
    wandering

    down the mountainside

    no obstacles

    only friends.

    1. Chere,
Somehow I am not surprised to hear that this spoke to you. You are doing just that right now. You are living as a river wild and free.
Thanks for this reflection. I look forward to the day when I can hug you.
Travel safe and make each day count.

  2. We have fallen in love with a place by a river in France and have been yearning to return. Covid restrictions have rather stymied our plans. Your piece reminded me of the natural beauty of the hamlet of Brivezac.

    1. I miss traveling too. There are so many beautiful places in the world. If my poem brings back a happy river memory for you then I feel the words were used well. Thanks for sharing.
