My words were inspired by this nourishing song, The River,
written and performed by Coco Love Alcorn. Please give it a listen.
river's spirit sings rhythm without age it knows flow where to go it helps me trust the way with eyes closed, receiving I open to the waterway joining streamlets, runnels, rivulets rushing away Mother Earth's teaching receding or overflow returning is river's way to go ©Ali Grimshaw 2022 Join us at dVerse - Eyeing the Quadrille #147 HERE
I’ve never heard The River before, but it was amazing. So beautiful and uplifting. Your words are a perfect match.

I listened to Coco Love Alcorn singing it, then to another version sung by a choir. Both beautiful. Have a wonderful weekend, Ali.

I read this a second time….aloud this time. I love the sounds the words make here. I especially love the second stanza: it’s words, its meaning, its sounds.

Lillian,
I appreciate your specific feedback. I struggled more with that second stanza within the confines of 44 words.
Take good care.

Your verse is stimulating – and thank you for the link to Cocoa Love Alcorn – I immediately recognized her image and voice – paid more attention to her lyrics this time ’round. Nice pairing with your poem.

Jazz,
Thanks for reading and letting me know you listened to the song. This song has been a lifesaver for me the past two days. I close my eyes and let it take me to the river.
I hope you are well. Take care.

Ali, I am well! Walked 1.5 mile yesterday (with rollator) – hip healing nicely post Feb 2 surgery. We’re packing up now to go camping (in our Airstream, easy camping!) braced for chill temperatures but nevertheless I will be OUT OF THIS HOUSE for a week – overdue!

I think many people don’t have a way to connect to nature or may not even know what it can offer them.
Thanks for reading, Sarah. I really enjoy your poems.

I am encouraged by the many businesses that have found a way to take non-violent action to impact Russia. War is never the answer.

I’d be more encouraged if I thought it was having an impact on the man who is behind the aggression. So far, he’s just laughing.
