I expect to wake each morning. Safely carried through night's passing. How have I not noticed this? Before dreams retreat, my feet finding floor. Safely carried through night's passing. Pixelating myself onto this day's screen. Before dreams retreat, my feet finding floor. I have taken wholeness for granted. Pixelating myself onto this day's screen. Standing in this ordinary. I have taken wholeness for granted. Movement is my freedom to be. Standing in this ordinary. How have I not noticed this? Movement is my freedom to be. I expect to wake each morning. © Ali Grimshaw 2023

Beautiful, it’s nice to be reminded that it wasn’t a given I’d get up today. Always something to be grateful for. ❤️

We take it all for granted… but the day will come for all of us when we either don’t wake up or become bed-bound until we pass. We should not take our freedom for granted.

Agreed. I plan to celebrate my ability to move today.

This is incredibly beautiful writing here, Ali! The use of repetition adds emphasis and greater depth to the poem. “Movement is my freedom to be.” Yes, indeed! 🥰🥰

Sanaa,
I recently spent time with many who don’t have freedom of movement in their bodies or their lives. It reminded me of this precious ability that I so often take for granted. Thanks for taking the time to share your reflection. I appreciate it.
