he oversees the lagoon of
discarded worries
an under-demanding position
here visitors arrive worried-stiff
wrapped in cloud confusion
while misty banks ease the release
of hidden heartbreak underneath
their layers of anxious hopefulness
as fears are flung into waters
with rippling relief
reflecting reprieve

I love sculptural pieces like this that pop up one one’s travels! Like markers for one’s journey. And your poem is a wonderful homage to it. I have to echo what Melissa said in that he does remind me of Elton John! 😄

“Lagoon of discarded worries”! I love that! If only all of us could throw our worries into a lagoon and be free of them!

I love your overseer of discarded worries. Such a great lagoon metaphor. Instead of going with the flow we collect our worries in our little lagoons to save and keep ruminating over! Excellent!

I love the inclusion of the heartbreak under the bridge; I think it brought the ‘lagoon’ away from shores and nestled into concrete.

Ali, in “Overseeing Liberation,” your imagery of “misty banks easing the release of hidden heartbreak” is impactful. This, paired with “flung into waters with rippling relief,” creates a tangible sense of catharsis. Keep up the thoughtful work in your exploration of discarded worries.

He looks a right proper overseer of such a repository — quite worry-free himself!
