Let's linger in the Autumn glow dusk is on its way to cloak us with comfort ease our worries loose to fall. Pausing here we become one with this seasonal scene of hush before continuing our saunter harvesting what matters most from this day. © Ali Grimshaw 2021 Join us on dVerse for Quadrille Monday HERE Photo take in Portland, Oregon 2020. Beautifully written, Ali. Love how you used the words Autumn and Fall in the same poem… After all they both are the names of the season right after summer. I feel you captured Autumn very well, a more quieter of a time than summer and readying yourself for more nights in. Here in Australia, we are in Spring heading towards Summer 🙂 Hope you are doing well.

Mabel,
Thank you for your thoughtful reflections on this poem. It is always a wonder for me to think about the seasons shift being different for those of you on the south side of the equator. I envy you moving toward Spring. Take care.

The initial meter makes you think it’s going to be rhyming couplets, and then you throw us out of sync, just to get back to the rhyme at the end. A clever encapsulation of autumn!

What a lovely poem and photo, Ali 🙂 It’s always hard to let go of summer, but what makes that goodbye a little easier is the fact that autumn is on the other side–ready to embrace us with open flannel-clad arms 🙂 Thanks for sharing and have a wonderful day. Aiva xx

Ali,
The juxtaposition of linger in the beginning to saunter in the end does a great job of shifting the mood from looking backward to looking forward.
