Fall Will Catch You – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

Painted leaves sing in unison.
Unlike music, their song
is soundless harmony.

This orchestra of glow
soothes the tempo
of an internal pounding

from a day of instruments
that refused to play
the same song.

Fall will catch you
with muted volume
a serenade of equilibrium

while watercolored leaves
hold you in a nest of rest.

  1. I love making the fall colors into music! I always think of the words “cacophony of color” when I think for the fall….but then maybe that would have to be the cymbals in a symphony????

    1. It is a cacophony of color. But my vision is a silent symphony so I don’t think the cymbals have a role in this song.
