Make Your Mark – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

A red geranium
purposefully glowing
among the fallen leaves
lusciously living among the crisp.

It will not
be denied its time of bloom
long past summer's farewell.

I want to be a mark of love on this world
just like that.

This week I am challenging myself to grow by speaking with people I don't know with the hope that I will make a heart connection. The world needs each of us to show up. Whatever you have got to give, don't doubt the value of giving it.

Keep shining your light.

  1. I love this poem, Ali!

    And I hear you:

“I want to be a mark of love on this worldjust like that.”

I got tears in my eyes

And I’m very sure you are such a mark and much more! Thank you for your light today, Ali

  2. I live in an over 55 active community. I like to just sit either outside on the bench or inside on the couch with my book in hand and say hello to anyone who enters. Sometimes I know them and sometimes I don’t. It allows me to meet strangers or continue conversations with my neighbors. I’ve got others neighbors greeting other people in this same manner. What a joy. You may never know what that one word, “hello,” may do for someone’s state of mind.
