This calm is only an illusion
a photographic alteration
of a moment, where
leaves confetti-whirl, flutter fly, fancifully
surfing wild winds with surrender.
Smiling, I accept their invitation to frolic
following one golden riffle
then a tangerine-red
in beautiful celebration
of all things temporary.

Beautiful, Ali, and that last stanza was superb!

The first stanza makes me feel like all photos are lies in some way. Videos too, even our eyes. I think I may be in frame of mind of the poem I just wrote for Tuesday Poetics though.Anyway, your poem certainly triggered some thoughts. Thanks! 👏

I love your ephemeral poem, Ali, with its illusion of calm, ‘a photographic alteration of a moment’, the alliterative ‘confetti-whirl, flutter fly, fancifully surfing’, and I would accept the invitation to frolic with those colourful leaves.

Thank you for your feedback. I hope this poem encourages frolicking. It is a far better response than violence and hatred.
