Behind, underneath yet also intertwined
with softly sounded movement of bees
yet not quite a song, of all that generates
thrives for growth beyond survival music.
These background singers of inspired hum
as I branch out toward new sky, consider
a transplant beyond my container
soil in colors my roots have never reached.

If you were looking for a poem to give Mitchell and Erica for their wedding… Love you dearly my friend. Hope your spring break is off to a good start. I’m happy we have a dinner date next Wednesday 🙂 ~Kirsten

You won’t be surprised to hear that I love that last stanza. We can keep our core roots even as we transplant to foreign soil to keep growing and exploring.

This hums along quite smoothly, the whole thing flows with “softly sounded movement”.

I don’t know if you ever read “The Overstory” by Richard Powers, but this poem reminded me of that book. Just lovely!

feeling the pull of roots yet succumbing to the freedom of the air, both are background hums that inspire beautiful poetry, a very two dimensional approach to the prompt, love how it flows

That is an interesting reflection since I wrote this today and I am feeling both of those feelings. I wish I could capture the hum of life that surrounds all of us.
Thanks for your feedback.
