Nested – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

Somedays we may
need to return to the nest
lined with words of hope,
blanketed by belief
in our ability to fly again.

Somedays we may
need to hold ourselves
leaning into curved sides
of this small structure
built by someone who loved us.

    1. Ann, thank you for letting me know that my words brought lift to your day. Oregon rivers, like this one, always provide me with a sense of renewal. I hope you get the chance to enjoy some time outside today. Take care

  1. Wow Ali! Your poetry never fails to put a smile on my face. Just beautiful and heartfelt.
I cannot fathom where you get this from, but somewhere along the lines I see so much love and respect for your poetry. Thank you so much for making the day so much better.
    Literally wow.

    1. Carrie,
Thanks for reading dear friend. Sometimes the conversations that come in the comments add so much to what was held in the poem. It is one thing I truly cherish about readers reflecting back their experience of the poem. It is a gift to the writer and others who read along.
I am so looking forward to writing with you next week when our new writing circle begins.
Take good care of your heart.
      Ali

    1. Thanks Peter. I imagine a nest built by those who raised me, those who have touched my life and the many ancestors that came before me. I can lean into the curve they left behind.
I appreciate your thoughts. Thanks for sharing.
