Daybreak – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

Each day a chance
for new green to reach us
for listening to happen in a way
that has never happened before.

For air to clear.
And for us to come together
instead of apart.

For healing to blossom
forgiveness heard, shame shifting
to break the cycle of old chains.

For mirroring your love
revealing how your eyes
have seen me forward.

For rebalancing of Earth and sky
an atmosphere where all living things
breathe without fear of suffocation.

For dormancy to begin again
or throw off its covers
to jump out of bed.

  1. Beautiful poem and wonderfully written. I like how you said ‘mirroring your love’. Love is something powerful, and when offered and shared, it helps all us move forward together. Wishing you a wonderful year ahead ❤

  2. Wonderful poem, Ali. I review poetry, both contemporary and past, on my own page, and I hope you don’t mind, but I’ve shared my thoughts on your poem there. If you’d prefer I remove it for any reason, just let me know, and I’ll take it down right away.

Congratulations on your success so far. I look forward to seeing more of your work in the future.

  3. This is such a wonderful poem, Ali! If we all did one small thing now and then, such as making a change, doing something to make a difference or a random act of kindness, imagine the impact we could have on the world! Small changes. Daily moments of kindness. LITTLE things. They matter. Thanks for sharing, and have a good day 🙂 Aiva xx

    1. Aviva,
I somehow missed this comment until today. I can hear that you received the inspiration I was hoping to share in this poem. That makes my heart happy. Wishing you all good things for 2025. ❤️
