Listening Inward

A online group journaling experience with Ali Grimshaw.

Tuesday, August 11, 4:00 – 5:30 pm PDT

The world needs the unique light that only you can shine. Keep your light on through the renewal of shared writing. Writing together can surprise us with new insights and guide our own journey.

  • Explore writing as a tool for self-reflection.
  • Slow down with yourself in space of self-care.
  • Be inspired by the words of others.

Testimonials from my past writing circle participants:

“Thank you for your loving energy, leading us to a place within ourselves that we either didn’t know was there or had been untapped for sometime. Your deep listening is a gift, and I feel held in it.” – Carrie

“I loved your focus on being intentional, hearing the voices of other women and your positive energy. You are a light and an inspiration.” – Diane

Begin Again – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

now, before the spark dims
and doubt blankets your
mind with too comfortable

now, before familiar climbs onto your lap
with worries, warmly weighty
and resignation joins in to
pull courage from the room

now, before you forget
the dreams of befriending
a green tree of sunlight
the touch of dragonfly landings.

Faith in Seeds – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

IMG_0945
I live as gardener
to your dreams yet to come

listening for the tender seeds
sprouted new or just planted warm

reminding you not to step on
fragile seedlings behind your feet

kneeling to show you their worth
weeding away your anxiety

clearing the way so you can see
small beginnings still there

offering gentle reminders
to look for new tips breaking ground
and compare them to last week’s arrivals

assisting with watering
during these times of drought
while waiting for blossoms together

Let Go

“I have learned things in the dark that I could never have learned in the light, things that have saved my life over and over again, so that there is really only one logical conclusion. I need darkness as much as I need light.”  – Barbara Brown Taylor

When the lights went out, she welcomed the dark

warm on her skin like an old friend

as nourishment for her sadness

leaves rustled a serenade to slow her pulse

the refrigerator hummed along

a reminder of the ordinary evenings

breath slowed, the world kept turning and she let go.

dVerse – Perfect Seven Lines

Entryway

And though it may seem
like never opening your eyes
will protect you.

Grief’s gentle hand
closing your eyes
to sleep the days away.

If you don’t awaken
there is no way for the love
to get in.

Put your OPEN sign back up.

dVerse Quadrille #101

“The risk of love is loss, and the price of loss is grief — But the pain of grief is only a shadow when compared with the pain of never risking love.”

– Hilary Stanton Zunin

The Gift of Chaos

Enlight22

With all that is currently happening in the U.S. and the world, I feel the need to reshare this poem, Visiting With Chaos. There is an opportunity in the messiness of life. Will we choose to be loving learners or give up to fear?

Thank you to Vita Brevis, The Modern Poetry Magazine for publishing my poem. Click on the link to read it. – Visiting With Chaos

Sending love and a reminder that you are not alone.

Option – a thing that is or may be chosen

What if you believed it would all work out?

Would your breath come with ease
would you giggle at yourself, delight in the breeze
raise your waving hand, yell out “me too,”
with the aliveness of your five year old self?

Would you skip across the parking lot
dressed in sequins, colors that say, “I have arrived.”
Would you walk long enough to greet the dusk
stepping lightly until it kissed the sky goodnight?

What if you did?

A benevolent view

what you had always assumed

to be solid, now soggy sadness

water warped windows with

a view misguided, bended

memories altered the truth

will you forgive yourself

for all that was unseen before?
