Doorway to Forgiveness

Dulled by time, the dusty door

coated from years of holding back

nailed shut, painfully impassable

darkness left sealed for so long

you can’t remember it ever being open.

Bewildered frustration, heat rises

sweat drips down your chest

fury and defeat of stones tied to feet.

This emotional cycle circles through

each day as you stand before it.

Maybe it isn’t possible to reopen

you are so small.

But look

you still hold the hammer in your hand

the key dangles from your back pocket.

The need that will not stop

the need to create for ourselves

speak with our hands

scribble with our minds.

Make, shape, build

add colors from inside.

Be

bolder than

we trust ourselves to be.

We share wisps of tender fear

kept hidden from view

like a shield of insecurity

tucked behind the ear.

Wary of those that come

with a look unfamiliar.

Remember

the power of the

impermanent paint

to include.

to dare a crossing

Interference

Processed with VSCO with c6 preset

My head sits

on cords of screaming tension

inability to relax into

whirl of busyness, cyclone

of storms around my being

interference between me

and the presence

I wish to give you.

Please forgive my current cloudiness.

Blow this weather to the corner of the room.

I want to sit with you.

“What is the state of your heart?”

Inspired by  – “Let us insist on a type of human-to-human connection where when one of us responds by saying, “I am just so busy,” we can follow up by saying, “I know, love. We all are. But I want to know how your heart is doing.” “

Freedom calls us.

Squeeze

What is the point of this adrenaline

if not to catch a falling baby,

escape from a lion or revive a drowning man?

Where can all of this feeling go?  I want a place for it.

A drawer, a box, a shelf, a treasure chest, the trunk of a car

maybe an large envelope to mail it far away.

Away from me. Where I am not the one.

Draw another name from the hat, surely she is stronger.

How am I to hold this prickling, burning weight,

vibrational surge, flaming fingertips?

Pressure builds until this little teapot

blows her steam.
