Along the Path of Daily Breathing – poem by Ali Grimshaw

“Because the heart dwells in unattended dark, we often forget its sublime sensitivity to everything that is happening to us. Without our ever noticing, the heart absorbs the joy of things and also their pain and care. Within us, therefore, a burdening can accrue. For this reason, it is wise now and again to tune in to your heart and listen for what it carries.

– Let Your Heart Speak, John O’Donohue

along the path of daily breathing
to hear my heart’s needs
saturation of all to be felt

(all muscles need rest to continue lifting)

I sit inside a song of silence
listening for imaginings of the heart
possibilities of becoming

dreams beyond my thinking

Overseeing Liberation – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

he oversees the lagoon of
discarded worries
an under-demanding position

here visitors arrive worried-stiff
wrapped in cloud confusion

while misty banks ease the release
of hidden heartbreak underneath

their layers of anxious hopefulness

as fears are flung into waters
with rippling relief

reflecting reprieve

Mesmerized – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

Oh what can be unfolded
inside my twisted heart
by sunlight on water

as artful swimmers ease through
surface and depth as one painting.

I'm captivated by colors that ask
What is truly lasting?

When the world shouts, IMPOSSIBLE!
Love replies, "Just watch me."

Wildwood – Poem By Ali Grimshaw

oh goddesses of green
grand guardians
I pine for you still

your assembly of sacred shade
moss-softness
watercolored pools

diving deeply
your wild emerald waters
left me yearning

for freedom like a river

rush of riverstones
cool slide of ease

no thoughts for tomorrow

Summit – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

how many ways
can a mountain be climbed?

sometimes rocky
sometimes layered years of the fallen
soften this upward trail

are you yearning for the peak panorama?

questioning clarity of sky
quickening pace as noon's rising?

befriend pine-scented warmth
each ascent like none before

Undeniable – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

how many days can you claim
bold aliveness

kindergarten eagerness
ignited intentions

bright contagiousness of
shared lifting

sky-filled unerasable strokes
readable by all

baring yourself beautiful

with each word from your mouth
skinny-dipping freedom

because words of love
deserve all capitals
sing unification

undeniable

Splendor – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

like wandering children
we stepped gingerly in morning iced-light

far from Christmas past
far from storefronts, Amazon delivery
miles from anything
that necessitated wrapping

we were gifted with captured stillness
a fantastical frozen roadside of candied red

delight reigned
and our hearts were awed

Feeling Punchy – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

bring on lime laced
mango merry
tangerine power-punch
lemon-chiffon nectar to top it off

let's get sloshed on boughs
and falling flavors from
heavenly highlights above our heads

we can pretend to be gods
drinking in sunshine soaked crimson

latenight cavorting
without morning consequences

Embers Embraced – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

“We’re here for a reason. I believe a bit of the reason is to throw little torches out to lead people through the dark.”
The Violin Conspiracy
tossing a torch of love-light

my intentional hope
that you will catch it
hold it high
light your way forward

your choice offers
a candlelight of possibilities
or coals diminishing
left untended

my heartwork
dancing from within
fueled by other's embers

those past torches

Begin – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

pull the small metallic triangle
tear through troubles
until tingle arrives
until you are fully unwrapped
leaving anxious ribbons
tinseled tension
trailed behind

bare-skinned, beaming, braver
than the last version
greet your new shadow-self
welcome possibilities

many stones of adventure
lay at your feet
