Sometimes a leafgreen season allows a reaching beyond our past perimeter of pain. Will you build a bridge or jump ship? Questions like Spring rain essential for endurance. Pause before you reach the 50-mile marker wondering what brought you to the desert without water. ©Ali Grimshaw 2022 Join us HERE for Earthweal Open LInk Weekend. Ali, this is a wonderful poem. I have often considered the fate of those less than halfway through the desert without water supply, metaphorically speaking.

Even one plant breaking through the surface of a dry desert can be enough to inspire a transition in oneself. Imagine what the lushness of spring can do.

Ali, I agree with you. I think we get tested in winter time and can get to that edge of the desert without a water bottle if we aren’t careful.

We tend to go unprepared into new-to-us geographies / perspectives. Life is adventure. Here’s to pausing to let questions pop up like wildflowers after Spring rain.

a lovely unanswered openness about the questions and mood here – just like leaf buds as yet unclear as to their genus

Thank you for your reflection. I think this poem felt restricted by the 44 words. Maybe it is meant to be something longer.

Dwight, I think God planned it that way. Winter to toughen us up and Spring to reward our hope.
