I hate to tell you this
considering years of embellishment
toward your deceitful, tough guy
unruly reputation,
but I see a small
crack in your story
sliver width, just wide enough
some truth slipped through
No one is listening yet
your secret remains safe

I don’t often share poems from other blog sites but this one speaks so clearly to me of the simple power of love. Soak it in. who am i, from the blog Whisperthatecho
He brings me one each day
contrasts in shape, varied vibrancy
burnt red to ripe peach, presented
on the kitchen counter until evening
arrives at our window.
Held in his palm, our eyes meet
this wrinkled single donation
textured hues, imperfect edges
color story of today to cherish,
a temporary prize between us.
Trees give without expecting
something in return. Thankfully,
so does he.

How is it that water
is such an crafted artist?
Consistently she reflects
the whole of light and darkness
blurred grays and
watery wavering waves.
Then offers still contrasts
days of no wind
that stop time for me.

she wished to glue
leaves of color back onto the limbs
unprepared for season’s shift
then her dormant suitcase looked up
with eyes of grace, a reminder
of past orbits around the sun.

Quiveringly quiet,
with anticipation of freedom,
framed by the sturdily built doorway,
she waits to greet dusk,
smelling the wind of tomorrow coming.
Once outside, she will never wear
that heavy cloak of blame again.
Even her shadow will no longer
be the same.

without placing our
feet upon a past life.
Leaves layered, give
way to decay
to nourish the next.
What ground can I
cultivate with shelter
for those neglected seeds
that are tomorrow’s hope?
