Buoyancy – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

dawn goddess
celebrator of the hopeful

Aurora offers cresting radiance
beams definitively sky filled
breaking over mountains dim

a daily gesture of newness
of beginnings yet to be

let her shine on you
morning overflowing

fill your cup with levity
walk lightly through heaviness

I’ve been granted a spell of wandering – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

no one will ever know what you gave

the number of times
you've grown a new heart
after donating the last one

sit a spell with the map
of your heartlife

claim your mountains
distance
growth vistas

tape more wilderness down
you're still alive

Springtide – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

Sometimes a leafgreen season
allows a reaching beyond our past
perimeter of pain.

Will you build a bridge
or jump ship?
Questions like Spring rain
essential for endurance.

Pause before you reach the 50-mile marker
wondering what brought you to the desert
without water.

Water Heal My Soul – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

My words were inspired by this nourishing song, The River,

written and performed by Coco Love Alcorn. Please give it a listen.

river's spirit sings
rhythm without age
it knows flow
where to go
it helps me trust the way

with eyes closed, receiving
I open to the waterway
joining streamlets, runnels, rivulets
rushing away

Mother Earth's teaching
receding or overflow
returning is
river's way to go

No Plug-in Needed – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

During darkest of seasons.
I tinsel you with light,
my face giving its full glow.

Your apple-cheeks of radiance
champions of joy for
encounters with newcomers,

or friends. Christmas tree
or not. I will decorate you
with loveshine.

Not a bulb between us unlit.

Together – Poem By Ali Grimshaw

tasting sadness on your skin
I lean into the space between

your peach-warm cheeks glow
while shadow-stones play
on Autumn's windowshade

head to heartbeat
I hold you to my chest
feel a shift to calm

a small sigh from your lips
warmly weighted

Ambling – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

Let's linger in the Autumn glow
dusk is on its way

to cloak us with comfort
ease our worries loose
to fall.

Pausing here
we become one with this
seasonal scene of hush

before continuing our saunter
harvesting what matters most
from this day.

She Stood for Others – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak; courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen.” – Winston Churchill

she stood for listening
overcoming discouragement
and air that never burned your nostrils

she led by digging weeds with you
side-by-side overheated or drenched.

she never let fear ride in the front seat

and forever reminded me
the sun’s position
changes everyone’s shadow
everyone’s

against the flow again – Poem by Ali Grimshaw

Swimming upstream
feeling the pull
of this current
day of decisions
to be made.

Kicking away
troubled tributaries

“You will regret this.” They say.

Where is my ladder through?
(even fish get one of those)

I guess God must think
me an excellent swimmer.

Access – A Poem By Ali Grimshaw

a poem is a door
opening backward
or sliding sideways
for full human viewing

a poem invites Awe's cousin
Curiosity, to join you for a seat
on a soft metaphor
then reminds you to lean back

a poem offers scaffolding
for fear, for wonder
for whatever arrives next
with structure and airflow
so nothing gets too stagnant

including you
and passing light
through a green passageway
